Mathematical theories of semantic relations

All of the different semantic relations which make up an ontology have certain mathematical theories associated with them. In summary, the mathematical theories of equivalence relations, partial orders, and boolean algebras and set systems can be used to better understand certain semantic relations. This is why these concepts play a fundamental role, the theory of synonymy is the most important of all of these because it introduces the fundamental idea of the ontology of equivalence relations.
